Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 8, 2026•
Local-First · No Tracking
In short: Moonie is a personal hobby project created by a solo indie developer. Your financial data (transactions, wallets, budgets, receipts) lives entirely on your own device. There is no company server collecting or selling your spending habits.
1. Your Financial Data Stays On Your Device

When you log transactions, categorize expenses, or set budgets in Moonie, all data is stored inside a local SQLite database (powered by Drift) on your phone.

We do not have access to your bank accounts, card numbers, or transaction logs.

2. Optional Cloud Backup (Google Drive)

If you optionally choose to sign in with Google to back up or restore your data, Moonie uploads the encrypted backup file directly to your private Google Drive storage.

The developer does not have access to your Google account or your Drive files.

3. Camera & Photo Permissions

If you use the receipt scanner feature, Moonie requests access to your camera or photo library. Image text recognition (OCR) is performed on-device. Receipt images are never uploaded to our servers.

4. Crash Reports

To help fix bugs and improve performance, Moonie may use Firebase Crashlytics to receive anonymous technical crash logs (such as device OS version and stack trace). These logs contain zero financial records or personal information.
